Relationships. A big word which carries a lot inside… We have all been through one or several which have left a great impact on us, our mythological-ex, and a lot of wondering and thinking…
One of the big and common question marks in the subject is – could we have saved that relationship?
The issue of how to save your relationship is a little complex (wait! I said a little…). But it can be done – you can save a relationship.
The first thing to do is to be honest with yourself and think – is the relationship worth saving. Yes, there are some which should not be saved! Examples? Ok, if you were in a relationship in which you were abused – verbally or physically; If you felt like you were always giving and sacrificing but getting nothing back.
One very important thing (hello optimism!) is that most relationships can be saved.
The thing is – many of us give up quickly and “surrender” to the breakup. We get wrapped up in our emotions and forget that we shared something beautiful with our ex-partner. Think about it – if it was good in the past, there’s no reason why it can’t be good in the present or future!
Another problem is that usually one person will want to save the relationship, and the other will still cling to the reason/s for breaking up. And of course, it is more difficult to do the work on your own with no or little cooperation from the other side. But… don’t give up. If you believe it and want to save this couple, follow your feelings. And you know what? Even if eventually the relationship isn’t saved – you will still feel much better, as you have done all you can and been a greater person!
It is important not to show any desperation.
Yes, do what you can- be nice, friendly, show you care. But do not beg or cry for your partner to come back. Take out the best of you and show your ex the great person you are.
